Abruptum was formed in 1990 by It aka Tony Särkkä, who is also in Vondur, was a part of WAR
and also the founder of Ophthalamia together with the other founder of Abruptum
All aka Jim Berger, who also became a part of WAR on their second record and also is a part of Vondur.
All never made it onto
the debut album, released by Euronymous's (ex-Mayhem guitarist) record company Deathlike Silence Productions,
as he was replaced by Evil aka Morgan Håkonsson, the founder of fellow blackmetalact Marduk in which he is
still participating.
Evil Obscuritatem Advoco Amplectère Me, DSP 1993. Rating Not Rated
"This is not music, just pure evil" is how It and Evil describes their own debut.
I must agree on this, this is not music! That is also why I never listen to the two tracks on this fifty minutes long debut album.
Euronymous put it: "Abruptum is the audial essence of Pure Black Evil".
Rumour has that Abruptum cut themselves to produce the screaming on this recording.
The darkest cover ever, hehe. I have nothing more to say.

Three tracks are featured on this 2000 release. The first is the titletrack which can also be found on the amazing
compilation A Tribute To Euronymous
on Necropolis Records, the best black metal compilation ever. This is the best Abruptum track I have heard. It is awesome and evil
and not since the Mysticum CD from 1996, have we heard this kind of satanic malice in this way.
After hearing this first track, you probably have your stereo volume turned up, since the end of De Profundis Mors Vas Cousumet
is rather low. This will probably have a terminal impact on your loudspeakers since track two starts off with some doomish distorted churchbell
ringing that carries on for about 5 seconds. After that it's just 8 minutes of noise, and that is representative for the rest of this EP.
Pure noise with no musical structure. Sure Evil
has tried to create an evil atmosphere with this noise, and succeeded, but why not make music instead when you can ? One track is not enough
for the price of an EP, and the rating of it is heavily influenced by this.
Buy the Necropolis compilation instead, if you can get your hands on it.
